DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Working independently and participating as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team the Primary Care Nurse is responsible for direct patient/client care at Gold River Health Centre and delivers health promotion programs to individuals and groups in a variety of settings in the designated rural area.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Remote Nursing Certification or eligible for Remote Nursing Certification to be obtained within one (1) year of hire. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN(C) registrant. Three (3) years recent related experience; knowledge of available programs and services their interrelationships and their function in delivering care in the community; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Basic Life Support Level C certificate. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Valid BC drivers license
Skills And Abilities
- Apply nursing process as required and described in BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice.
- Demonstrate clinical competence.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team with other staff and with patients/clients and their caregivers/families.
- Demonstrate conflict resolution critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Utilize sound judgment good observation and assessment skills tact and empathy.
- Fact-find and seek out information and/or resources.
- Intervene in crisis or difficult situations.
- Organize and prioritize service needs and delivery of service.
- Prioritize and organize work.
- Maintain a commitment to continuing professional development as required by the employer.
- Foster and promote good public relations.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Deal with others effectively.
- Promote positive change.
- Operate related equipment including computers.
- Physically and emotionally able to carry out the duties of the position.
- Use personal vehicle.
