Location/Division Specific Information

This person will be a strategic partner in our manufacturing operations team for the Business Unit Niche Diagnostics in Fremont CA. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations the role will lead a production Value Stream to achieve the required business results for our Toxicology product line.

We are seeking a Senior Manager who will lead the operations team in the Toxicology Value Stream. Your primary responsibilities will be to ensure products are manufactured with the highest level of quality and compliance in a safe and timely manner that will meet customer expectations and cost commitments. You will be joining a dynamic Operations Leadership Team and playing an influential part in developing and motivating an impactful team of both direct and indirect team members. This role will involve working together across all functions to achieve shared objectives. Direct reports will include managers supervisors and indirect/dotted line reports from all functions across the value stream that support operations.

A day in the Life:

  • Lead Toxicology product line operations to achieve on-time delivery demand-based capacity safety quality cost and continuous improvement through lean leadership.
  • Ensure the product-specific manufacturing goals are achieved and assure production and laboratory standards are in compliance with all GMP ISO FDA OSHA and other company manufacturing and safety guidelines.
  • Responsible for meeting the product lines financial targets key performance indicators (critical metrics) and benchmarks including productivity operating income revenue margins inventory and growth.
  • Responsible for the value streams ongoing management of Sales Inventory and Operation Planning (SIOP) and for minimizing excess and obsolescent inventory.
  • Cultivate and strengthen close relationships with the life cycle leadership to ensure close alignment with evolving customer needs including commitments on availability delivery and valuable services documentation requirements etc.
  • Provide leadership to accomplish continuous improvement in quality manufacturing cycle time and total cost by advocating and driving the PPI Business System within the production. Drive strategies to decrease costs at least 3% per year across the organization.
  • Require routine focused operational reviews that cascade through the organization to the production floor enabling rapid resolution of performance issues and objective evidence of strong performance to be rewarded.
  • Listens supports engages and encourages employee suggestions and input to achieve excellent results while supporting a culture of accountability.
  • Monitors reviews and improves manufacturing and quality related activities and drives investigations and corrective and preventative actions.

Collaborate with senior leaders of major customers and internal cross-functional partners to provide outstanding service in line with their expectations

Keys to Success:

Education

  • BA/BS Degree in Biology Chemistry Engineering or other scientific/technical subject area required. An advanced degree such as an MBA or a Masters is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of industry related experience with expertise in leading and developing staff in a manufacturing and/or distribution operations environment.

Experience

  • Experience in a diagnostic manufacturing environment with detailed knowledge of a variety of laboratory chemicals potentially hazardous chemicals human source materials and reagent manufacturing activities.
  • Experience in implementing or working with effective continuous improvement.
  • Track record of achieving results and shown ability to clearly identify and communicate a cogent vision lead through ambiguity and uncertainty take appropriate risks and make sound decisions.
  • Experience in coaching mentoring and developing others through personalized development plans.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

  • Proven understanding and ability to adhere to established quality standards and regulatory compliance requirements for medical devices or diagnostics.
  • Technical skills in manufacturing techniques FDA GMP ISO 13485 compliance process improvement and process development.
  • Outstanding supply chain optimization expertise and project management experience.
  • Practical understanding and experience with IT systems (ERP MES WMS etc).
  • Strong ability to analyze business situations with a broad understanding of P&L Balance Sheet NPV/Return on Investment and cost accounting principles.
  • A strong balance of analytical skills and action orientation to drive sustaining results with intensity at times demonstrating the confidence conviction and collaboration to innovate new strategies and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication executive presentation and leadership skills with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Able to effectively collaborate with peers in other value streams and with colleagues in other businesses or divisions.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with ability to multi-task and balance complex and routine work activities.
  • Ability to lead empower and influence others.
  • Ability to travel globally as business requires (10% minimum).

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Ability to push pull and lift approximately 50lbs.
  • Exposure and handling of controlled substances.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $141800.00$212675.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company team and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on which includes:
