Job Summary
Suncoast Hospice of Hillsborough a member of Empath Health is seeking a Senior Staff Nurse to join the Empath team.
Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm.
The Senior Staff Nurse:
- Provides support and leadership in coordinating team functions in collaboration with and support of the Care Team Manager including Quality Assessment Performance improvements supervisory visits and other activities as appropriate.
- An active formal mentor and first line resource to the Nursing staff and a direct supervisor to the Hospice Aide staff on the Team providing teaching support and guidance.
- Utilizes assessment intervention and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and to enhance the quality of life to the patient/family unit.
- Responsible for identifying and coordinating patient/family needs and for guiding staff to provide preventative and supportive care to terminally ill patients/families.
Position Requirements:
- Education and/or Experience: Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Licensure:
o Valid Florida license as a Registered Nurse
o Valid Florida State Drivers License
- Continuing education: As required for licensure
- Certifications:
o Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
o Current IV Therapy certification preferred. Must obtain the certification within six months of hire date.
- Strong preference for at least one (1) year supervisory experience.
- Strong preference for minimum of two (2) years Hospice experience.
- For field-based positions employees must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must provide proof of valid automobile insurance a copy of which will be placed in the employees HR file.
