Essential Duties:

1. Plan and coordinate officer certification training for new hires in compliance with MTC and ODRC directives
2. Plan coordinate and conduct in-service training for all institutional employees required by MTC and ODRC directives
3. Plan and develop programs and training to comply with the American Correctional Association (ACA) accreditation MTC and ODRC directives
4. Establish periodic and annual review of pre-service and in-service training programs
5. Responsible for maintenance and documentation of all certificates and pre-service and in-service training records
6. Develop departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures. Review and recommend changes to budget authorizations
7. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate work behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
8. Maintain accountability of staff inmates and property; adhere to safety practices

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/ her capabilities as determined by management

Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent (GED).
• Two (2) years of corrections or related experience preferred; six (6) months of which must be in supervisory capacity.
• A valid drivers license in the state of Ohio with an acceptable driving record required unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements

• Must successfully complete all annual in-service requirements.
