TITLE

Transfer Navigator

JOB SUMMARY

The Transfer Navigator serves as a key academic support professional dedicated to improving the experience and success of transfer students at Texas Womans University. This role focuses on advising and guiding prospective and enrolled transfer students coordinating academic pathway alignment and advocating for the transfer student perspective in academic processes. Working closely with Enrollment Management the Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Student Life the Transfer Navigator ensures transfer students are well-supported from recruitment through degree completion.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Director Transfer Initiatives

Supervises: May supervise student assistants or peer mentors

ESSENTIAL DUTIES -May include but not limited to the following:

  • Provide proactive and individualized advising to prospective and enrolled transfer students to support a smooth transition clarify academic pathways and connect students to university resources.

  • Assist pre-nursing transfer students in understanding degree requirements admission criteria and strategies to become well-qualified and competitive applicants ensuring their academic planning aligns with program expectations.

  • Coordinate student outreach campaigns and check-ins to ensure early and sustained academic engagement.

  • Develop and implement pre-enrollment programs workshops and events for prospective transfer students.

  • Serve as a liaison to faculty and staff to facilitate early academic interventions and support for at-risk transfer students.

  • Support learning community activities for transfer students including peer mentoring and cohort-building activities.

  • Generate and analyze data on transfer student enrollment persistence engagement and graduation to inform continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with Institutional Research and other departments to produce reports and dashboards that assess the impact of transfer initiatives.

  • Monitor progress and outcomes for students on established transfer pathways.

  • Support the development and revision of articulation agreements transfer guides and degree maps to ensure alignment with academic programs and accurate communication with students.

  • Assist in maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with community colleges and other partners.

  • Serve as a university resource on transfer-related policies processes and legislative requirements.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of web content digital tools and print materials related to transfer student success.

  • Participate in training and orientation programs for academic advisors and admissions counselors to enhance support for transfer students.

  • Represent TWU at relevant recruitment orientation and transfer-focused events.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION

Bachelors degree required. Masters degree in higher education student affairs counseling or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum two years of experience in higher education preferably in academic advising transfer services or student success initiatives. Experience working directly with transfer student populations is strongly preferred.

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

  • Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student advising and success.

  • Competency in data systems and tools for tracking student outcomes.

  • Excellent interpersonal organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and institutions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
