Job Summary
We are looking for a Field Applications Specialist to assist clinical laboratory clients throughout the Northeast region located in either the NYC or Boston metropolitan zones. This position involves conducting on-site setups providing training validating methods and offering high-level technical assistance for our clinical chemistry and immunoassay products. The perfect candidate should possess expertise in laboratory IT/LIS to aid in connectivity streamline workflows and handle integration duties. Proficiency in clinical chemistry liquid handling systems MALDI-TOF and conducting method validation studies (validation/linearity/precision/correlation) is greatly valued.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement method verification/validation studies (linearity precision correlation reportable range carryover) and document in compliance with CLIA/CAP guidelines.
- Lead on-site customer training and proficiency certification for supported instruments.
- Provide technical and applications support (remote and on-site) including troubleshooting instruments software assays and pre-analytical workflows.
- Support and optimize LIS/IT connectivity: instrument-to-LIS interfaces HL7 mapping order/result workflows and middleware rules.
- Perform technical presentations and workflow assessments.
- Partner with Account Executives Service and Product teams to build customer success plans that support the sales cycle.
- Contribute to product improvements through structured feedback field insights and VOC collection.
- Maintain accurate records in a CRM including site notes validation reports complaint documentation and training certifications.
- Travel is estimated to be around 75% within the region; occasional weekend travel and travel outside of the region as needed.
Preferred Technical Focus Areas
- Clinical chemistry analyzers and immunoassays.
- Liquid handling systems (automated pipetting plate handling method programming).
- MALDI-TOF workflows (sample prep calibration spectra analysis QC).
- IT and LIS troubleshooting and assistance
Qualifications
- BA/BS in a biological or life science field.
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.
- 35 years of experience in a clinical lab or diagnostics company including instrumentation support.
- 2 years working as a Field Applications/Technical Specialist or in a similar customer-facing position.
- Ideal candidate should have IT and chemistry and immunology background with ASCP certification preferred.
- Shown proficiency in conducting and recording validations (linearity precision correlation) and method verifications.
- Practical LIS/IT experience: HL7 instrument interfaces middleware connectivity testing and troubleshooting.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware software and assay performance; able to resolve complex issues independently.
- Excellent communication teaching and customer influencing skills.
- Ability to travel extensively within the Northeast and maintain eligibility for travel to customer sites as required.
- Self-directed organized and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative teammate who fosters positive relationships and aligns cross-functionally.
- Strong drive for success and continuous improvement.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $72000.00$108000.00.
