Department Profile: Firmwide Data Office (FDO)
The Firmwide Data Office (FDO) sits within Morgan Stanley Technology and focuses on data as a key priority within the overall Technology and the Firm strategy.
We are a team of around 200 people distributed globally and are engaged in a wide array of projects touching all business units (Institutional Securities Investment Management Wealth Management) and functions (e.g. Operations Finance Risk Trading Treasury Resilience Production Management) across the Firm. The team vision is a multi-year effort to improve data governance & management practices to demonstrate data quality controls simplify firms data architecture and business processes front-to-back empowering developers by providing consistent means of handling data facilitate data-driven insights & decision making.

Program Description:
We are working on an exciting new initiative to build an Enterprise Knowledge Graph by harnessing the power of Graph and Semantic technologies along with LLMs and Agentic AI to map complex business application data and infrastructure asset relationships to facilitate data-driven insights and decision making.
Across our business divisions as we strive to understand risk impact optimize cost assess business resiliency manage change and identify opportunities - all critical to fuel the growth engine - we need to link vast amount of data of different types and forms across heterogeneous data sources across the Firm to generate meaningful intelligence. The underlying data will describe the Firms businesses business processes and various operational assets required to support those businesses (systems technology infrastructure datacenter facilities workforce workforce facilities external supplier services and industry utilities).

Role
The Firmwide Data Office department is recruiting for an enthusiastic dynamic javascript based full stack developer with prior experience in building scalable enterprise applications with technologies like Remix React and The ideal candidate in addition to experience in building applications will possess expertise in designing architecting and optimising data-intensive systems with a keen focus on graph based data stores.

>Lead the design and development of full-stack applications using Remix React and and maintain microservices and RESTful APIs that are scalable and robust.
>Take complete ownership of feature development - from requirement analysis to production deployment.
>Write clean efficient and maintainable code following best practices (including unit tests code reviews documentation).
>Work collaboratively in an Agile/Scrum team environment with designers product managers and other developers.
>Ensure responsive and accessible UI design integrating closely with the UX team.
>Drive decisions around state management data fetching strategies caching and performance optimization in performance optimization and architectural improvements across frontend and backend.
>Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership within the team.
>Proactively identify issues and suggest improvements to system architecture and processes.
>Participate in sprint planning daily stand-ups and retrospective meetings.
>Maintain a strong focus on code quality security and performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications
>5 years of hands-on experience in full stack web development with strong emphasis on and React.
>Deep knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
>Solid experience with microservices architecture REST APIs and server-side rendering (SSR).
>Strong understanding of frontend principles including responsive design accessibility and UX best practices.
>Experience working with databases (SQL and NoSQL) such as PostgreSQL MongoDB etc.
>Hands-on experience with version control systems (e.g. Git GitHub/GitLab).
>Experience in unit testing integration testing and test automation frameworks - Cypress.
>Strong interpersonal and communication skills - able to effectively collaborate with design product and business teams.
>Proven ability to take initiative lead by example and own features end-to-end.

Good to Have
>Experience working on Micro-frontends and Monorepo.
>Prior experience on UI Graph libraries like D3 React-flow (xyflow) etc
>Exposure to DevOps practices including CI/CD pipeline & Jenkins.
>Understanding of security best practices (e.g. OWASP Top 10) and Performance monitoring tools (e.g. Sentry)
