Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- To undertake regular slope monitoring inspections to monitor compliance to the Codes of Practice and Procedures and to identify areas with possible slope instability.
- Monitors and reports stability of open pit slopes on daily basis.
- Liaise with the Foremans Shift Supervisors and Pit Superintendents on shifts.
- Monitor Slope instability using slope monitoring instruments in Mogalakwena slope monitoring strategy(i.e. Radars Piezometers T4D and Geomos) and report to the Strata Control Officer.
- Guideline supervision in standards for safety and performance.
- Participation in the investigation of relevant Rock Engineering related incidents and accidents.
- Support the Strata Control Officer/Section Rock Mechanics with rock engineering information to compile reports.
- Gives training to the operations personnel in basic Hazard Identification and risk management.
- Willing and flexible to work 4/4 roster and 74 work arrangements. Attends training courses as prescribed by the responsible Rock Engineer Receptive to on-the-job training
This role is at a Band 8 level reporting to the Pit Rock Engineer
Qualifications :
Qualifications
- Matric with Maths and Physical Science 60% and above
- Diploma/Degree in Mining or Geology will be advantageous
Experience
- 1-year experience in Mining or Technical environment
