Job Description:

Program Leadership and Oversight
Provides leadership and day-to-day direction for the Critical Care Paramedic Program to meet enrollment learning and completion goals. Sets program goals plans timelines and implements strategies that align with department and university priorities. Advises and reports to the Director of the Fire and Emergency Services Program within the M.E. Rinker School of Construction Management on new initiatives risks and results. Establishes standards and accountability for didactic and clinical teaching staff and monitors performance to ensure consistent quality. Uses data feedback and outcomes to guide decisions and to improve teaching labs and student support.

Curriculum and Clinical Development
Develops and maintains current didactic and clinical curriculum that meets state and national requirements for certification. Designs updates and documents learning outcomes lesson plans syllabi evaluation rubrics and clinical criteria. Develops and coordinates clinical labs; creates teaching material and trains lab instructors to deliver safe high-quality experiences. Ensures all labs are properly staffed equipped and scheduled to meet learner needs. Reviews guidance from licensing and certification bodies and updates curriculum and clinical criteria in a timely manner.

Instruction and Assessment
Serves as a primary instructor for the Critical Care Paramedic Program and delivers clear engaging didactic sessions. Coordinates and teaches clinical lab sessions and acts as a liaison for the clinical lab coordinator. Writes and grades quizzes and examinations evaluates research and applied projects and provides timely feedback to students. Maintains consistent communication with students to guide them through the program and supports diverse learning needs. Coordinates UF Health Shands Hospital for intensive care unit clinical rotations and with UF SimLab for simulation sessions during labs ensuring current guidelines for students are met.

Faculty and Instructor Coordination
Directs the efforts of didactic and clinical instructors to deliver consistent instruction across courses and labs. Recruits onboards schedules and mentors instructors preceptors and lab staff. Provides training on curriculum clinical criteria safety procedures assessment standards and documentation practices. Reviews instructor performance through observation learner feedback and outcome data and provides coaching for improvement. Ensures coverage for all classes and labs and maintains an up-to-date staffing plan.

Compliance and Risk Management
Ensures all programs activities and series comply with university state and federal regulations and with relevant licensing and certification standards. Maintains records and documentation required by oversight bodies and external partners. Implements and monitors safety protocols for didactic and clinical settings including equipment usage and lab procedures. Coordinates required student and instructor clearances such as background checks health screenings and immunizations as required by partner sites. Identifies compliance risks early and takes prompt corrective action.

Stakeholder and Partner Relations
Builds and maintains relationships with local state national and international emergency medical services departments and related agencies. Serves as the primary point of contact for partner sites including UF Health Shands Hospital Clinical ICU UF SimLab and other partner agencies. Negotiates and manages agreements for clinical placements equipment services and educational collaborations with appropriate approvals. Represents the program at professional meetings advisory groups and outreach events. Promotes the program and fosters pathways for graduate placement and continuing education.

Budget and Resource Management
Formulates and administers the annual operating budget with appropriate approvals. Plans prioritizes and tracks expenditures for materials equipment services and staffing to support didactic and clinical operations. Monitors financial performance forecasts needs and implements cost-effective practices without reducing quality. Oversees inventory procurement and maintenance of instructional and lab equipment and supplies. Ensures fiscal practices follow university policies and internal controls.

Data Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
Tracks student progress completion certification pass rates and post-program outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness. Collects and analyzes feedback from students instructors and partners to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Produces reports for department leadership and external stakeholders as requested. Implements improvement plans for curriculum labs instruction support services and operations. Shares results and best practices to promote a culture of excellence.

Work takes place in office classroom simulation lab and clinical environments with periods of standing walking lifting and equipment setup.

Uses computers projectors simulation equipment medical training devices and standard office equipment.

Monday Friday 8am-5pm. Variable extended and weekend hours may be required for programmatic needs.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with Education and Experience.

Required Qualifications:
  • Requires clear written and spoken communication sustained attention to detail and timely decision making under deadlines.
  • State and/or national licensed paramedic active and in good standing.
  • Valid drivers license for job-related travel if required by the position.
  • Ability to meet partner site requirements which may include background checks health screenings immunizations and training on partner policies.
  • May require evening weekend or holiday work to support labs or partner schedules.
  • May require local or regional travel to partner sites conferences or events.
Preferred:
  • Florida State Licensed Paramedic.
  • Masters Degree in Education EMS or comparable field.
  • Must have completed the UF Critical Care Paramedic Program.
