Division of Facilities Management - Western Division
The Division of Facilities Management (DFM) exists to plan design construct operate maintain and manage the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) facilities and campuses. Work is done according to all applicable code requirements and standards in a manner that promotes the CDHS mission of providing a safe sanitary and effective environment for clients youth residents consumers and staff and enhances the quality of life in CDHS facilities campuses and the surrounding neighborhoods.
You are required to work at your assigned work location during your scheduled work times.

Description of Job
This positions function is to maintain a clean healthy and safe environment for residents and staff by performing custodial work that relates to the general upkeep and sanitation of Western DFM facilities. Cleaning is performed according to the standard found in written manuals written and verbal instructions safety data sheets (SDS) HCFA standards Health Department standards and state rules and procedures.
What Youll Be Doing:
Performs daily cleaning sanitizing and servicing of assigned work area as per schedules and procedures by use of appropriate disinfectant cleaners chemicals and equipment consisting of sweeping dust mopping wet mopping vacuuming restroom cleaning and other duties as assigned.
Performs daily detail cleaning of assigned area as per schedules and procedures by use of appropriate disinfectant cleaners chemicals and equipment consisting of washing walls doors frames sills windows baseboards fixtures furnishings ceilings vents and light fixtures.
Performs weekly project work within all areas including all hard floor and carpet areas.
Performs project floor work consisting of buffing scrubbing stripping waxing and sealing of hard floor surfaces and spot cleaning shampooing and extracting of carpeted floors by use of appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Collects and disposes of trash and biohazard waste by properly containing and transporting to proper disposal locations.
The removal of desks chairs etc. to conduct project floor work in all areas on a weekly basis. Participates in moving of furniture appliances equipment supplies etc. manually and by use of moving equipment.
Cleans and services equipment maintains janitorial closet supplies stock levels and chemical labeling requirements.
Snow removal.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Positions. Positions that perform essential law enforcement highway maintenance and other support services directly necessary for the health safety and welfare of patients residents and inmates of state institutions or state facilities. Employees in essential positions can be only FLSA non-exempt and can be required to work unexpected or unusual work hours to perform the essential and/or emergency services of the department without delay and/or without interruption.
Call Back applies when an eligible employee is required to report to work before the start or after the end of a scheduled shift. If there is no release from work between the call back hours and regular shift it is considered a continuation of the shift and call back does not apply. When call back applies a minimum of two (2) hours of the employees regular base pay is guaranteed. Eligible employees are those who are eligible for overtime and any call back time is counted as work time.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have at least three (3) months of cleaning experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Competencies
Experience cleaning and maintaining facilities such as schools colleges hospitals long-term care facilities mental health institutes or correctional institutions.
Experience sweeping and mopping floors cleaning restrooms emptying trash as well as performing general dusting and vacuuming within schools colleges hospitals long-term care facilities mental health institutes or correctional institutions.
Conditions of Employment:
A full pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process as this position is deemed to have direct contact with vulnerable persons. Felony convictions conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from being considered for this position. Should your background check reveal any charges or convictions it is your responsibility to provide the CDHS Background Unit with an official disposition of any charges.
This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.
Must be willing to submit and pass a full background check.
Possession of a valid non-restricted Colorado Drivers License.
Out-of-State Drivers License holders must obtain a valid non-restricted Colorado Drivers License within 30 days of employment start date.
Travel May be required to travel to training and meetings.
Motor Vehicle Check
Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.
Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
Must be available for call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or without interruption.
Must be available for shift work. Will be required to work various hours for coverage weather related issues and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours.
Use Handling or Exposure to hazardous materials Explain: Proximity to moving mechanical parts Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Exposure to electrical shock and or working in high exposed places.
Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must:

Provide your employee number from your prior State employment. Absent extraordinary circumstances prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination and failure to provide this information will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.

Relevant years of state service experience.
