Job Overview
The Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting and executing all aspects of quality assurance and control throughout the manufacturing process. This role ensures that products meet internal standards and customer requirements by conducting inspections performing data analysis supporting procedural development and driving continuous improvement. The Quality Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining regulatory compliance and delivering a zero-defect product to customers.
Shift: 1st Shift Monday-Friday $25-$28/hr D.O.E.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) to verify initial production conformity.
- Conduct In-Process Inspections including the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
- Execute Capability Studies (Cpk) to analyze process capability and identify potential areas for improvement.
- Perform final product audits and release inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
- Set up operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other inspection tools as required.
- Utilize a variety of hand tools gages and measuring instruments (micrometers calipers height gages etc.) to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Maintain cleanliness and calibration status of inspection equipment.
- Accurately record inspection data for FAI SPC Cpk and production inspections.
- Assist in generating quality documentation inspection reports and customer-facing quality records.
- Create and update work instructions product inspection books and quality logs under the direction of the Quality Manager.
- Assist in the development and revision of quality procedures standards and work instructions.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and participating in audit activities.
- Help maintain the Calibration Management System in collaboration with the Quality Manager to ensure equipment is certified and traceable.
- Work closely with the Production and Molding Departments to provide in-process quality support.
- Inspect tools electrodes and components for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Support packaging and part labeling processes to ensure correct customer identification and traceability.
- Recommend improvements in inspection methods tooling equipment usage and training to reduce inspection time and increase accuracy.
- Participate in quality-related problem-solving efforts including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action implementation.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe working environment in the Quality Department.
- Ensure all work meets the satisfaction of internal customers and complies with company engineering and quality standards.
- Adhere to all company policies safety rules and procedures.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree or technical certification in Quality Engineering or a related field is a plus.
- 13 years of experience in quality inspection or assurance within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of engineering drawings GD&T and inspection techniques.
- Experience with inspection equipment including hand tools CMM and other metrology instruments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 IATF 16949 or other quality standards is a plus.
