Temporary full-time up to March 2027.

Do you want to be part of a diverse planning team contributing to growing Greater Penrith as a Metropolitan Cluster within the Western Sydney AerotropolisPenrith is located at the point where Sydneys east-west connection Australias most significant economic corridor crosses the north-south growth belt.

We serve a fast-growing population expected to exceed 260000 (and an economic catchment of more than one million) by 2031. We sit at the foot of the Blue Mountains alongside the Nepean River only 11km from the future Western Sydney Airport.

We are looking for an experienced town planner or engineer that is a motivated team player and is enthusiastic about expanding their skills and knowledge in development contributions. We understand that undertaking development contributions is a niche role and therefore we are willing to support and upskill you in this area of planning. You will assist in the formulation of new development contributions plans and negotiating voluntary planning agreements including ongoing monitoring and review of contributions for Penrith as we continue to grow and meet the needs of our existing and future communities. You will be part of the infrastructure planning that will stem from significant transformative projects such as the Western Sydney Aerotropolis and major transport infrastructure in creating the Western Parkland City.

The position will also contribute to a broad range of planning projects that will provide both amazing opportunities and challenges as we balance the growth resilience and liveability of our City.

Essential criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Town Planning Project Management Engineering or other relateddiscipline
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and theEnvironmental Planning and Assessment Regulations
  • Demonstrated understanding of development contributions plans voluntary planningagreements and works-in-kind agreements
  • Proven ability to establish coordinate and/or operate with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical project management negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Current Class C driver licence

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in infrastructure planning engineering issues and/or contract negotiations
  • Demonstrated experience in release area planning major planning proposals and infrastructure provisions

Planner - Contributions salary: $92765.00 - $107380.00 per annum plus 12% Superannuation.

Senior Planner - Contributions salary: $107058.00 - $123924.00 per annum plus 12% Superannuation.

You will be required to undertake employment checks which may include a Criminal History Check Qualification Check Working with Children Check Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council for review in order to progress through the recruitment process.
