Job Summary

SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner functions as a member of the radiation oncology specialty by providing medical care in a collaborative joint practice with radiation oncology physicians; providing comprehensive care to acute or chronically ill patients in the office setting; serves as a liaison between physicians and staff to communicate and coordinate activities and assure quality patient care; provides and coordinates patient care after their course of radiation therapy; obtaining historical/physical data on patients; assisting in management of treatment plans interpreting and integrating findings to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; providing assistance to assure quality patient care; writes & refills prescriptions as indicated; maintains positive relationships with patients family members visitors and fellow employees and practices under supervision and guidance of the physician.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program and a school of graduate nursing at Masters degree level; current licensure by the Kentucky state board of nursing in good provider CPR certification required.

PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:

Physical guidelines include the ability to move traverse position self remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift move and transport patients equipment supplies; motor coordination and manual dexterity; ability to communicate effectively; ability to read and understand orders; visual acuity.
