Join Aurora Ravensfield School as Our SENCO!

Location: Stratford St Mary

Contract Type: Full-time Permanent

Annual Salary: M1 to UPS3 32916 to 51048 (depending on skills and experience)

Ideal Start Date: April 2026

As part of our growth strategy; were really pleased to be opening a brand new SEN School in Autumn 2026 Aurora Ravensfield. Based in Colchester this brand new school will have a proposed capacity of 82 students aged 5-19.

The old School House is situated in the picturesque village of Stratford St Mary and will service Essex and Suffolk local authorities. The building will have a variety of classrooms and therapy spaces including a specialist Science and Cookery rooms.

Are you a passionate and experienced educator with a commitment to inclusive learning Aurora Ravensfield School is seeking a dedicated SENCO to lead and champion our provision for students with complex and special educational needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a specialist SEMH setting working closely with staff families and external professionals to ensure every student reaches their full potential.

About the Role

As SENCO youll play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality inclusive education across the school. Youll lead the Annual Review process support staff development and ensure that our SEN provision meets the highest standards.

Youll be responsible for:

  • Promoting an inclusive approach to SEN across the school
  • Liaising with EHCP Coordinators and external professionals
  • Supporting teaching staff with specialist training and strategies
  • Monitoring and evaluating SEN teaching and learning
  • Leading on assessment data tracking and reporting
  • Providing CPD and INSET on SEN best practice
  • Contributing to strategic planning and school improvement

Skills and Qualifications

What Were Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and PGCE or equivalent
  • SENCO qualification (or willingness to complete within 3 years)
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN ideally in a specialist setting
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding
  • Excellent communication leadership and organisational skills
  • A collaborative creative and child-centred approach
