About the role
Temporary Full-time opportunity - (From January 2026 up to September 2026)
The Development Compliance Officer investigates resolves and provides advice in relation to development environmental and land use compliance matters. This role assists develops and implements environmental and land use compliance policy education training and audit programs. It contributes to the improvement of team practices and to meet the relevant objectives of Councils Management Plan and Service Specifications.
Essential criteria
Completed or currently enrolled in tertiary qualification relating to Environmental Health Environmental Management Environmental Planning Environmental Health & Building Surveying or a related discipline
Experience in Development Building and land use planning
High level understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 Local Government Act 1993 Swimming Pools Act 1992 and a broad understanding of the Building Code of Australia
Current Class C drivers licence
Be skilled in conflict resolution and mediation
Sound organisational and time management skills
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral
Experience in the preparation and presentation of evidence for Court proceeding
Salary: The salary for this position ranges from$92765.00 - $107380.00 per annum plus 12% Superannuationand will be negotiated commensurate with the skills qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.
Access to a Leaseback Vehicle is available with this position; however it is not a condition of employment.
You will be required to undertake employment checks which may include a Criminal History Check Qualification Check Working with Children Check Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council for review in order to progress through the recruitment process.
