The Department of Computer Science at California State University Fullerton (CSUF) invites applications for tenuretrack Assistant Professor positions in Computer Science with an appointment to begin Fall 2026. Applicants in all areas of Computer Science will be considered. The department is especially seeking applicants to teach courses in the areas of systems and theoretical computer science as well as applicants in AI/ML and those specializing in cybersecurity who will engage in the development and maintenance of the Cybersecurity Concentration and teach security courses.

Position
The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will include the development and teaching of introductory core and graduate courses in the discipline and their area(s) of specialization and leading an active research program commensurate with the requirements for tenure and promotion. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department contribute to the assessment of the Computer Science program advise students serve on committees and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities.

RequiredQualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field. ABDs are welcome to apply but must show evidence that the degree will be completed by the time of appointment
  • A strong record of scholarly accomplishments appropriate to the level of appointment
  • Ability to balance excellent teaching research and service
  • Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues and community
  • Demonstrated commitment to and excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching of a diverse student population including firstgeneration college students

Compensation
The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $6221 to $13224 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). Anticipated salary range: $8488 to $8737 per month (equivalent to $101856 to $104844 per year).

Salary offered is commensurate with experience and addition the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work ( research grants moving expenses startup funds and a reduced teaching load may be available.
