The Department of Corrections Division of Institutions is recruiting for an Administrative Officer 2 at the Anchorage Central Office in Anchorage Alaska.

What you will be doing:

This role provides administrative support for the Division of Institutions assisting the Director and Deputy Directors. Key duties include budget analysis handling personnel and procurement issues presenting information for the Director and supervising one Administrative Assistant 2. It also involves leading 13 field Administrative Officers to ensure consistent operations across all institutions.

  • Budget Administration: Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing justifying reporting on and executing the budget; and the relationships among program budget accounting and reporting systems.
  • Communications Security Management: Knowledge of the principles policies and procedures involved in ensuring the security of communications services and data and in maintaining the communications environment on which it resides.
  • Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (including the general public individuals who work in the agency other agencies or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs provide information or assistance resolve their problems or satisfy their expectations.
  • Teamwork: Encourages and facilitates cooperation pride trust and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience providing administrative support to a business or organization business administration public administration finance banking accounting industrial relations marketing human resource management logistics and supply chain management or a similar business field.

PREA NOTIFICATION

The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including but not limited to Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has beenconvicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
