Summary:
-
Preparing hazardous chemical solutions on a large scale
-
Validating chemical solutions via titration and pH measurement
-
Running test panels to validate plating line processes
-
Monitoring production equipment (pumps heating elements tank liners etc.)
-
Maintaining pH probes and DI water systems
-
Ordering chemicals and materials logging usage and proper chemical disposal
-
Maintaining cleanliness of plating tanks
-
Paint processes and specifications including MIL-PRF-85285
-
Collaborating with production operations facilities maintenance and quality/manufacturing engineers
-
Monitor plating line equipment and chemical solutions
-
Validate chemical solutions are within specification via titration and pH measurement
-
Validate plating line process through test panels
-
Manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment; PPE required (goggles steel-toed shoes)
-
Chemistry environment with exposure to hazardous chemicals; PPE required (respirator lab coat goggles)
-
Handling 55-gallon drums
-
Collaborate with facilities to get DI recirculating water system operational
-
Support improvements to optimize plating line efficiency and safety
Major Chemical Hazards:
-
Iridite 14-2: Heavy metals hexavalent chromium strong acid
-
Isoprep 188: Hexavalent chromium strong acid
-
Acid Pickle: Concentrated nitric acid hydrofluoric acid
-
Isoprep 35: Caustic
Requirements:
-
Bachelors degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
-
3 years chemistry lab experience
-
3 years handling and disposing of hazardous chemicals
-
3 years experience with plating painting and coating lines
-
3 years conducting titrations and pH measurements
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Effective communication skills
-
Familiarity with standards and testing methods including:
-
MIL-DTL-5541F (Type I Class 1A and Type I Class 3)
-
ASTM-B117 (Salt Fog Testing)
-
FED-STD-141 (Adhesion Testing)
-
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
