About the Team:
The Stage Manufacturing team turns design into reality owning the build of Terran Rs primary structures. This isnt about turning the same bolt every day; its about building the systems to build the rocket. Engineers and technicians work side by side with deep collaboration and real-time feedback to shape how we build better and faster. With a manifest and a launch date its up to the team to deliver on Terran R: solving challenges in real time optimizing for scale and constantly improving processes. As the vehicle evolves so will the factory with opportunities to apply automation machine learning and advanced technologies. What we build here sets the blueprint for the future of scaled launch.
This is a 2nd shift position with a standard schedule of 3:00 PM 1:30 AM PT Monday through Friday. The role includes a 10% shift differential added to the base pay. Please note that this position is structured around a baseline expectation of a 50-hour workweek which may include occasional overtime as needed to meet operational goals.
About the Role:
- Perform high-accuracy dimensional inspections and precision tooling builds using Verisurf and laser trackers (Leica Faro or API) for large-scale aerospace assemblies and fixtures.
- Support installation alignment and calibration of complex production systems (e.g. VFSW/CFSW welders rail systems inspection stations and integration tables).
- Conduct best-fit alignments datum re-establishment and profile analyses to verify engineering design intent and maintain structural integrity.
- Interface with Design Manufacturing and Quality teams to optimize build strategies tolerance studies inspection sequencing and NC/rework disposition.
- Execute precision drilling dowelling epoxy pours and leveling for anchoring fixture setup and heavy tooling integration while ensuring safe rigging practices.
- Create detailed dimensional reports and maintain compliance with safety standards in fast-paced hands-on production environments.
About You:
- 7 years of hands-on experience in laser trackers toolmaking aerospace assembly or large-scale metrology operations and 5 years using Verisurf X.
- Proficient with GD&T interpretation engineering drawings/models and model-based inspection workflows for large-format assemblies.
- Skilled in setup calibration and troubleshooting of metrology equipment with understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly integration.
- Experienced in fixture installation leveling and alignment of complex tooling and structural components.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a proactive team-oriented mindset and willingness to support dynamic cross-functional environments.
- Ability to travel up to 10% annually to support site deployment machine calibration and field alignment operations.
Nice to haves but not required:
- Experience installing or calibrating production welding systems (VFSW/CFSW) or supporting field-based alignment work.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM or Mastercam for data analysis and manufacturing support.
- OSHA/MSHA certifications and understanding of advanced safety practices for rigging and heavy moves.
- Ability to mentor junior technicians in best-fit metrology Verisurf workflows and large-scale alignment principles.
