About the Role

Our client in the Greater Toronto Area is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead dealership operations and drive business growth. This role has full P&L responsibility and oversees sales service parts finance and administration. The GM is accountable for achieving sales targets maximizing profitability developing a high-performing team and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience as a General Manager in automotive retail a track record of achieving KPIs and profitability targets strong business acumen and the ability to build and mentor teams that consistently exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for all dealership departments (sales service parts F&I administration).
  • Develop and execute business plans to achieve sales volume gross profit and customer satisfaction objectives.
  • Manage dealership P&L budgets forecasts and financial performance to ensure profitability.
  • Monitor and drive key performance indicators (KPIs) across all departments.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards OMVIC regulations and all applicable laws.
  • Oversee facility operations and maintenance.

Team Development & Performance

  • Recruit train supervise and evaluate department managers and personnel.
  • Coach and mentor managers to consistently achieve and exceed departmental KPIs.
  • Foster a positive accountable workplace culture focused on continuous improvement and results.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to support employee development.
  • Manage staffing levels scheduling and compensation structures across departments.

Sales & Customer Experience

  • Drive new and pre-owned vehicle sales performance gross profit margins and inventory management.
  • Ensure high CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) scores and strong customer retention rates.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies and promotional campaigns to grow market share.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and the local community.

Fixed Operations

  • Maximize service absorption efficiency and profitability in Service and Parts departments
  • Ensure top-quality service standards and customer satisfaction in Fixed Operations
  • Monitor service department performance metrics and implement improvement strategies

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to all federal provincial and local regulations (OMVIC MVDA ESA OHSA).
  • Maintain compliance with manufacturer policies procedures and facility standards.
  • Oversee workplace health and safety programs and initiatives.
  • Manage risk liability and insurance matters across dealership operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of proven success as a General Manager in automotive retail.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive management experience in automotive retail (Sales Manager GSM or senior leadership roles).
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding KPIs (sales volume gross profit service absorption CSI scores).
  • Strong understanding of dealership operations across sales service parts and finance departments
  • Proven ability to manage P&L and drive profitability.
  • Knowledge of Ontario employment legislation OMVIC regulations and automotive industry compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management and financial reporting
  • Ability to make data-informed business decisions and identify growth opportunities
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS) and business software
  • Valid Ontario drivers license with clean driving record
  • Valid OMVIC registration.
