Job Summary

Girton Grammar School is seeking engaging and passionate teachers of Japanese and French to join our Junior School team. This is a part-time and / or casual teaching position starting in January 2026.

The primary responsibility of this role is to teach Japanese and/or French to Junior School students inspiring a love of language and culture from an early age. The successful applicant will create a dynamic and supportive classroom environment fostering communication skills cultural understanding and enthusiasm for language learning.

At Girton Grammar Language Teachers play a key role in delivering a rigorous evidence-informed curriculum grounded in best practices for early language acquisition. This role requires a commitment to explicit engaging instruction and a collaborative approach to curriculum development.

Key Selection Criteria / Essential Qualifications and Skills

  1. Appropriate qualification and current registration as a teacher
  2. Passion for teaching Japanese and/or French to young learners with proven ability to design and deliver outstanding language programs.
  3. Understanding of and commitment to best practices in early language education.
  4. Demonstrated effective delivery of teaching and learning programs
  5. A commitment to professional development
  6. Excellent personal communication administrative and organisational skills
  7. Commitment to student wellbeing and child safety demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children including children with diverse needs and backgrounds
  8. Strong skills in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) especially as they relate to teaching and learning
  9. Commitment to co-curricular activities.
