About the role

As a Road Asset Officer you will contribute to the sustainable management of Hobarts road network by supporting asset planning maintenance and renewal projects. This role combines technical assessment data analysis and project support to ensure our roads meet operational standards and community expectations. Working closely with engineers and other stakeholders youll help deliver practical solutions that enhance safety performance and longevity of critical infrastructure.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Gather and analyse data to support asset investigations forecasting and valuation processes.
  • Assist with planning and documentation for road capital renewal projects including scoping and estimating.
  • Investigate public enquiries and provide accurate technical advice to internal teams and the community.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend sustainable cost-effective solutions for road asset management.
  • Inspect and assess road assets to ensure compliance with operational and legal standards.

About you

You are an analytical and detail-oriented professional with a strong interest in road infrastructure and asset management. Whether youre an experienced engineer or a recent graduate you bring technical knowledge problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering safe and sustainable road networks. Your ability to communicate clearly work collaboratively and manage priorities ensures you can support both operational and strategic outcomes for Hobarts roads.

What Youll Bring

  • A degree in Engineering (or significant relevant experience) with an interest in road design construction or maintenance.
  • Understanding of road asset condition criteria assessment methodologies and treatment options for civil road assets.
  • Knowledge of road pavement design and geotechnical principles including groundwater impacts and management.
  • Ability to prepare clear accurate technical reports for senior officers and management.
  • Strong organisational skills and a collaborative approach aligned with Councils behavioural competency framework.
  • A current Drivers Licence and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Employee)
