Job Summary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Supervision

    • Supervise and mentor veterinary technicians assistants and support staff.

    • Coordinate daily staff assignments and ensure optimal workflow in the hospital.

    • Provide training and guidance on clinical procedures safety and best practices.

  • Patient Care

    • Perform advanced technical duties including anesthesia induction surgical assistance radiology laboratory work and dental procedures.

    • Monitor and document patient progress communicating effectively with veterinarians and clients.

    • Maintain high standards for patient care cleanliness and infection control.

  • Client Communication

    • Educate clients on post-surgical care medication administration and preventive health.

    • Address client questions and concerns professionally and empathetically.

  • Operations & Inventory

    • Manage ordering stocking and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.

    • Assist in creating and updating hospital protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

    • Support compliance with regulatory standards (OSHA DEA AAHA etc.).

Qualifications

  • Education: Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician (LVT/RVT/CVT) required.

  • Experience: Minimum 35 years of veterinary technician experience with at least 12 years in a leadership or senior technician role.

  • Skills:

    • Proficient in anesthesia surgical assistance and emergency procedures.

    • Strong communication leadership and organizational skills.

    • Ability to train and motivate team members effectively.

Work Environment

  • Full-time position; may include weekends or holidays as needed.

  • Fast-paced small-animal hospital or mixed-practice environment.

  • Practice Manager and/or Lead Veterinarian
