Veterinary Eye Institute (VEI) is the leadingveterinarian-ownedand led network of stand-alone ophthalmology practices. We help our patients receive advanced medical treatments and innovations. We treat things like cataracts glaucoma uveitis ulcers sudden blindness and so much more! We are looking for collaborative and driven people to join our clinical team
We are looking for:Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician
Proposed Schedule: M-F 8:15a-5:15p
The Ophthalmology team is unique in that it specializes in appointment-based patient care as well as assisting andpreparing forsurgeries.Ophthalmology is a fast-paced service with a high caseload alternating between appointment and surgery days. You couldassistwith tonometry corneal stains Schirmer tear testing as well as TPRs and chemical ablations.

Whatyoulldo:
  • Prioritize caseload and patient care and prepare and check charts forappropriate paperwork
  • Obtain vitals and perform ocular testing
  • Assistwith surgical procedures
  • Prepare callinor create written prescriptions
  • Knowledge of various routes of drug administration and ability to calculate and administer injections and fluids.
  • Anesthesia monitoring (placingmonitoringequipment understanding and ability to evaluate values manuallymonitorpatientif necessary).
  • Pre/Post-Surgicalpatient care and patient recovery.
  • Maintaining surgical OR equipment and instruments including cleaning wrappingsterilizingand organizing.
  • Perform client call backs.
  • Rotational WeeklyonCall Shifts are
  • Rotational Support of Dallas location
Who are you:
  • High school diploma of equivalent
  • Prior veterinary experiencepreviousophthalmology experience desired
  • Proficient in calculations (drugs constant rate infusions unit conversions etc.)
  • Flexibility with work hours and able to workadditionalhours when necessary
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Critical thinking skills and ability toanticipateneeds inter & intra-departmentally
  • Ability to stay ontaskand work energetically for entire shift sometimes up to 10 hours per day
  • Eager to learn more about diseases and medication specific to ophthalmology
