SUMMARY
The Systems Infrastructure Architect is responsible for designing securing and evolving companys core infrastructure systems and platforms. This role ensures high-performance reliable and secure systems by managing enterprise servers cloud environments virtual infrastructure network security and business continuity tools. Reporting to the Chief Technology & Solutions Architect (CTSA) this role supports the long-term vision of the companys IT operations through proactive service vendor coordination and technical leadership. The Architect acts as a trusted advisor in infrastructure decision-making while maintaining alignment with companys heartbeat values client service commitments and technology roadmap.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and maintain secure and scalable infrastructure systems (on-prem virtual hybrid cloud).
- Manage and monitor Windows Server environments Active Directory DNS DHCP GPOs and domain services.
- Oversee endpoint compliance patching automation and lifecycle planning.
- Lead BCDR planning including Datto appliance management replication and recovery testing.
- Support Microsoft 365 and Azure integrations including Intune policy management and Exchange Online.
- Administer endpoint security tools including antivirus EDR and SOC-as-a-Service platforms.
- Implement security controls MFA enforcement and SIEM for visibility across systems.
- Maintain and support enterprise firewalls switching and secure access technologies (e.g. FortiNet).
- Provide escalation-level support for complex infrastructure incidents and outages.
- Support quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with infrastructure reporting asset health and risk assessments.
- Document systems incidents and infrastructure changes in IT Glue.
- Lead infrastructure-related projects and contribute to strategic IT planning.
- Ensure compliance with IT governance standards and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
- Maintain licensing warranties vendor renewals and procurement for infrastructure components.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Information Systems Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in systems administration infrastructure architecture or network engineering.
- Relevant certifications preferred: Microsoft Azure FortiNet NSE VMware CompTIA Network MCSA/MCSE.
- Experience in an MSP or multi-tenant environment is a strong advantage.
- Availability for scheduled maintenance windows and participation in escalation/on-call rotations.
- Deep technical expertise in systems architecture Microsoft infrastructure and cloud platforms.
- Experience with Hyper-V/VMware Active Directory Group Policies and backup infrastructure.
- Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and endpoint protection best practice.
- Hands-on experience with FortiNet or similar network and firewall technologies.
- Proficiency with M365 Azure AD Intune and licensing management.
- Excellent documentation practices using platforms like IT Glue.
- Ability to translate complex infrastructure requirements into practical secure solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional teams.
