Job Summary

1. JOB PURPOSE
To support the Movement to manage and respond to misinformation disinformation and mal-information manage MSF knowledge about disinformation and support building MSF strategic positioning and capacity building on disinformation.

2. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As an integral part of the Ops Comms team provide expertise on Disinformation in operational contexts.
  • Provide support and advice to operational comms and country of operation teams that are managing and dealing with misinformation/disinformation and malinformation information (MDM) environments.
  • Receive requests for advice on MDM cases from field communications teams and provide strategic advice on response to cases of MDM including monitoring seeking removal and other comms related recommendations
  • Provide interactive training to fieldcomms teams to raise their understanding of MDM how to report it. Further internal discussions and reflections on developments relevant to disinformation
  • Advise on and contribute to risk analysis with ops comms and operations in relation to MDM in countries of operations.
  • Participate and support teams handling critical cases to provide advise on response and course of action.

As an integral part of the MSF South Asia team contribute to building MSF South Asias positioning and expertise on disinformation and contribute
  • Network with relevant entities and stakeholders working on disinformation and MDM/comms departments in other organizations for the purpose of knowledge sharing and creating synergy on tackling harmful information in the eco-system
  • Conduct brief desktop research on regional contexts and key topics that related to MDM in humanitarian settings and which relate to MSF and other NGO reputation
  • Conduct discussions and round tables with relevant stakeholders on MDM information in the humanitarian sector.
  • Represent MSF in relevant events that discuss MDM in South Asia and other regions when needed

As a key expert on disinformation within the whole MSF Movement support MSFs readiness and strategic positioning on disinformation

  • Maintain record and analysis of MDM cases handled from across the movement and compile such information into annual/semi-annual reports dashboards and insightful analyses
  • Create trend analyses on contexts that frequently affected by disinformation. Conduct research on specific topics that affect MSF around the globe
  • Contribute to clarity of workflow of handling MDM within the movement.
  • Actively participate in the digital working group meetings and discussions to give advice on MDM guidelines participate in critical incidents contribute to analyses and regional response
  • Actively contribute to the Disinfo Working Group once created which will be a platform to formulate MSF strategic positioning on disinformation. Contribute to management of the MDM network community of practice through sharing information with the disinformation network and hosting monthly experience-sharing meetings.
  • Contribute to strategic plans to enhance MSFs resilience against MDM threats. Engage with experts to refine strategic approaches.
  • Launch initiatives to counter disinformation narratives actively. Collaborate with partners to develop counter-narratives.
  • Monitor and share regular news and trend updates about the area of MDM

Requirements

Essentials:

  • University degree in communications marketing journalism or relevant field.
  • Have 3-4 years of relevant experience and expertise on MDM and how it affects humanitarian contexts.
  • Have practical experience in managing disinformation cases.
  • Solid Understanding and interest in the MDM environment.
  • Understanding and interest in the global humanitarian affairs and information flow.
  • Strong analytical thinking and trend analysis capacity and ability to make sound judgements in order to deal with ambiguities.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to navigate stakeholders with different priorities.
  • Excellent social media/ digital communications skills.
  • Experience in working with analytical tools for social media and digital platforms (Talkwalker Meta content library Digital Verification methods.)
  • Ability to work independently and with colleagues around the world.
  • Excellent English writing and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills flexibility can-do attitude good team player this role involves working very closely and collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Excellent time management skills. Ability to prioritise workload self motivation

  • Contract duration is 12 months with the possibility of extension

  • Gross per month salary (before all the statutory deductions): INR 155818.00 INR 186056.00 (non- negotiable) (Final salary will depend on the scaling of the CV as per MSF criteria).
  • 13th Month bonus (equivalent to one month gross) will be additional.

  • Medical: MSF provides medical reimbursement for employees and their dependents as per MSF Indias health care policy.
  • This is an international vacancy with MSF India. MSF India will provide a relocation package to non-Indian nationals relocating to India.
