Job Summary

We are seeking a lead Histotechnician to join the LabCorp team where we are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical laboratory services. Come work in our Pathology laboratory at Portland Oregon alongside a highly trained staff with the latest technology. Our services are performed with the utmost care expertise integrity and respect for the patient.

Location: 1225 North East 2nd Avenue Portland OR

Schedule: Monday-Friday 1:00am - 9:30am

  • Follows the laboratorys procedure for specimen handling and processing test analyses entering results reporting and maintaining records of patient test results and assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Performs proficiency testing and documentation for all tests performed in accordance with CLIA state and accreditation standards.
  • Adheres to the laboratorys quality control policies; documents all quality control activities instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Follows the laboratorys established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratorys established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications.
  • Acts as subject matter expert in areas of testing and support problem investigation and resolution as needed.
  • Coordinates work of other departmental staff as required and assists supervisor/ manager in performing various assigned responsibilities completely and accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Assists Supervisor in the performance of the following duties: training staff scheduling staff for work reviewing completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance troubleshooting problems as they arise making work-flow recommendations to supervisor.
  • Clearly communicates all concerns/ issues related to assigned area to Supervisor/ assigned to staff and accurately completed within established time frames.
  • Meets company attendance policy.
  • Cooperates fully and completely with all efforts to implement and enforce LabCorps Corporate Integrity Program.
  • Exhibits awareness of and adheres to LabCorps compliance policies which apply specifically to his/ her assigned duties
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and prepare test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Monitor operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements:

  • Preferred BA/BS degree in Biology Chemistry Medical Technology or related science.
  • 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory testing.
  • Prior affiliation with OFNHP preferred
  • Familiarity with Laboratory information systems.
  • Ability to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
  • Knowledge of CLIA JCAHO CAP and state regulations is a plus.
