The Role:

The Associate Commercial Specialist will be integral to the APAC metals and agriculture sales specialist team focusing on supporting Project GAIAs initiatives related to agriculture and metals within S&P Global Commodity Insights. Project GAIA is a multi-year project that involves a major S&P Global investment to accelerate growth in S&P Global Commodity Insights growth in Agribusiness and Metals portfolios by establishing a leadership position in these areas.

The associate commercial specialist will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders supporting the project ensuring successful execution across diverse stakeholders.

Some of this work with include:

  • White space analysis
  • Reviewing possible cross sell opportunities in existing clients
  • Analyze and map out potential prospects to help drive new logo sales
  • Outreach to existing clients to help support customer retention via e.g. dedicated analysts sessions contents sharing etc

Overall Associate will be an instrumental part of the sales specialist team (metals: 2 sales specialists; agriculture: 4 sales specialists) to support driving revenue growth as well as retention

The Team:

APAC Specialist team is made up of dynamic individuals with experience in different commodity markets they specialize at. Most members have come from Industry where they worked as an analyst or a trader or content creators. They all bring one common trait and that is the deep knowledge of the commodity they represent/specialize at and have ability to convince customers/prospects to look at CI as their partner of choice. Our agribusiness sales specialists cover such areas as biofuels and feedstocks crop science agriculture and food fertilizers agricultural policy whilst metals specialists cover both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.


Responsibilities and Impact:

  • This position will be primarily responsible for helping sales specialists in achieving (and exceeding) net-sales and customer experience targets for Agriculture and Metals across the Commercial team in APAC.
  • Co-ordinates with the Commercial team to maintain CRM/Salesforce activity log meeting notes and provides accurate forecasting of sales opportunities. Communication is critical to ensure SPCI has a seamless approach to the customer. Work as one team.
  • Participate in planning and executing account management schedule and detailed action plan - white space
  • Working with primary accounts hunter team on list building prioritization
  • Responsibilities also include developing and strengthening relationships with our existing clients via regular analysts engagements
  • Use the insights gained from Agriculture customers/prospects to inform the Product/Content team to ensure that SPCI has relevant offerings for agriculture and metals markets.

What Were Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Must hold Bachelors degree (or equivalent)
  • Strong solution-selling background with proven experience in maximizing customer value and through coordinated account planning and team approach both internally and externally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated strong relationship building with customers markets and internal stakeholders. Strong oral and written skills in English are required to enable effective communications at all levels within the company and with customers.
  • Candidate with agriculture/commodity background with 1 - 2 years of working experience
  • Fresh graduates are welcome to apply

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mandarin speaking capability (desired but not a must)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (MS Word Excel PPT etc) and CRM systems such as salesforce.
  • Ability to independently acquire knowledge of industry competitors trends and products.
