Job Overview
The PBIS Content Specialist is responsible for providing support in the implementation and evaluation of the PBIS framework to schools across the division. The position is also responsible for designing and delivering high quality professional learning to school staff and leaders in the areas of instruction intervention and progress monitoring strategies to support the use of evidence-based practices in schools.
Roles and Responsibilities

- Teaches models facilitates and builds capacity to utilize research-based best practices within the schools PBIS framework to support student learning
- Supports schools through a model of consultation and collaboration with teams and administrators including coordinated site visits staff consultations and collecting feedback from stakeholders
- Collects and analyzes division-level data to identify trends in the areas of screening progress monitoring and instructional practices as well as formative and summative assessments
- Plans and delivers professional learning technical assistance and resources to support the framework of PBIS in alignment with division-wide goals
- Directly supports classroom teachers in their use of intervention
Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.
Education
Bachelors Degree
Experience
At least three (3) years successful teaching experience and implementation of PBIS
Licenses and Certifications
Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Has demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills necessary for building strong rapport and relationships with teachers administrators and community members
- Has excellent oral and written communication skills
- Uses a team approach and is collaborative to accomplish tasks and promote collaboration to improve student outcomes
Physical Requirements
The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this job:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly talking expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately loudly or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.
