STV is seeking an Estimator Manager to join our Construction Management team to work with one of our clients in Los Angeles California.
The Estimating Manager is responsible for leading and managing the estimating team with a specific focus on the Texas Mountain Mid-West and West regions. This role will involve supporting both design teams develop planning and design phase role involves developing and maintaining high-quality estimates for various projects across both civil transportation water and vertical industry sectors growing the team mentoring resources and driving consistency in estimating practices. The Estimating Manager will operate with a high degree of autonomy and will be instrumental in ensuring accurate and competitive this role should establish market trends to provide clients with insight into adjustments in the market specific to material and labor costs.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Team Management:
Team Development: Recruit train and develop a high-performing estimating team.
Mentorship: Provide ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews set objectives and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
Resource Allocation: Allocate estimating resources effectively to meet project demands and deadlines.
2. Estimating Processes and Standards:
Process Development: Develop implement and maintain standardized estimating processes and procedures.
Quality Assurance: Ensure accuracy and consistency in all estimates by implementing quality control measures.
Tool Optimization: Oversee the use and optimization of estimating software and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
3. Project Estimation:
Estimate Preparation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for various projects including materials labor equipment subcontractor costs design costs and other soft costs.
Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks in estimates and participate in risk workshops.
Bid Analysis: Analyze bids from prime contractors subcontractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with baseline budgets and estimates.
Change Order Reviews: Review and assess change orders to ensure proper cost estimation and impact analysis.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with project managers engineers other departments and clients to gather necessary information and ensure alignment on project scopes and estimates.
Client Interaction: Participate in client meetings to present and discuss estimates addressing any concerns or questions.
Reporting: Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the status of estimates resource utilization and team performance.
5. Continuous Improvement:
Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends material costs labor rates and other factors affecting project costs.
Best Practices: Continuously seek out and implement best practices in estimating to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Feedback Loop: Establish a feedback loop from completed projects to refine and improve future estimates.
6. Autonomy and Decision-Making:
Independent Operation: Operate with a high degree of autonomy making decisions and providing solutions to complex estimating challenges.
Strategic Initiatives: Lead strategic initiatives to improve the estimating function within the organization.
