Job Summary
Unit Description: Cardiac and Vascular Care (CVC) is a 16-bed unit designated for cardiac and procedural patients requiring a brief hospitalization. Our Registered Nurses care for a variety of patients including those recovering from surgery interventional radiology procedures invasive cardiology procedures; including ST-elevation myocardial infarction non ST-segment myocardial infarction patients patients requiring percutaneous coronary interventions and patients requiring antiarrhythmic medication initiation. The average RN to patient ratio is 1:4.
The incumbent may be required to float on a rotational basis as needed and typically works 2 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule block.
Education/Skills Required:
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- BLS or ACLS required with ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
- Meets requirements of physical/pre-placement screening.
- Completion of cardiac rhythm course within three to six months.
- Completion of stepdown education course within six to twelve months.
- As applicable the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
On-call: Not required.
