POSITION SUMMARY

The Plumbing Shop Supervisor is responsible for the installation maintenance and repair of all plumbing systems on the campus. This includes but is not limited to lift stations water heaters sinks toilets water fountains/bottle fillers etc. This position conducts all backflow inspections and provides input regarding plumbing systems on new buildings and remodels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Innovation

  • Coordinate supervise and assist in activities involving the colleges plumbing boiler hot water
  • Perform maintenance and installation functions associated with all water system equipment.
  • Direct and perform a variety of repair or replacement functions related to plumbing minor
  • Measure cut thread an assist in the installation of pipes and tubing.
  • Supervise and perform work in the installation maintenance and repair of the college plumbing potable water and sewer systems.
  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled plumbing work in the maintenance and repair of plumbing systems equipment and fixtures.
  • Repair and replace valves and other plumbing components.
  • Repair and replace hot water tanks circulating pumps etc.
  • Read work orders and blueprints.
  • Perform actual plumbing duties when required.
  • Inspect assigned jobs and estimate the materials required to complete the job.

Holistic Student Support

  • Conduct preventative maintenance on water heaters pipes pumps a timely manner.
  • Clean sewer and drain lines toilets etc.
  • Repair and replace broken water and sewer lines.
  • Assure compliance with appropriate safety standards.
  • Keep an organized and tidy work area supply area and vehicle.
  • Drive a truck or golf cart as necessary.
  • The Plumbing Shop Supervisor oversees all systems and initiatives relative to plumbing at our school and works to keep them functioning properly and in good working order.

Fiscal Stewardship

  • Obtain needed supplies and equipment to complete assigned tasks.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of needed equipment and supplies.
  • Generate various reports and maintain shop records and files.
  • Assign workload and inspect jobs.
  • Partners with local vendors to assist with effective pricing for the institution. The Plumbing Shop Supervisor also strives to stay on top of preventative maintenance in an effort to reduce risk of failing systems and parts. The employee will assist in the development of a zero based budget.

Organizational Culture

  • Communicate with staff to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • electrical work related to water heaters wiring of pumps and motors etc.
  • Perform assigned personnel administrative functions.
  • The Plumbing Shop Supervisor maintains a culture of consistency and equity when dealing with all members of the campus community independent of race gender or sexuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • All local state and federal codes relative to plumbing
  • Chattanooga State and TBR policies/guidelines
  • Plant Operations protocols and operating guidelines
  • Occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • The tools equipment and materials common to the plumbing trade
  • Supervisory principles and practices

Skilled in:

  • Minor and major plumbing
  • Oral and written communication
  • Reading blueprints and schematic drawings

Able to:

  • Maintain healthy working relationships with all members of the campus community.
  • Receive and champion directives from supervisors.
  • Complete a task efficiently considering safety the most important factor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Heavy physical work required:

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds safely and independently.
  • Requires the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds of force
  • frequently.
  • Adverse working conditions are often encountered.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and training:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
  • Vocational school certificate in plumbing or completion of a plumbers apprenticeship.

May consider at least 3 years of experience in lieu of certificate or

apprenticeship.

Experience:

  • No less than 3 years of plumbing experience.

Licenses:

  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Must be able to work in Hamilton County TN.

Salary Range: $51844 - $60917
