Scheduled Hours: Day Shift
A Brief Overview
Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures including but not limited to abdominal obstetric gynecologic and vascular imaging in accordance with physician orders. Utilize advanced ultrasound technology and techniques to capture high-quality images and assist physicians in diagnosis of anatomic or physiologic disorders. Analyze and interpret sonographic images ensuring proper documentation and reporting of results. Demonstrate knowledge of general and cross-sectional anatomy. Maintain knowledge of current ultrasound techniques and medical imaging protocols staying updated with technological advancements. Supervise mentor and train ultrasound technologists offering guidance and support as needed. Ensure that all ultrasound procedures are performed in accordance with established policies safety protocols and healthcare regulations. Assist in the development and implementation of ultrasound imaging protocols and best practices to improve patient outcomes. Basic computer skills as well as PACS knowledge. Must be able to provide exceptional care and satisfaction skills to all customers of the Great River Health.
What you will do
- Operate ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of the motion shape and composition of blood organs tissues and bodily masses such as fluid accumulations. Adjust technical factors to equipment to produce diagnostic images.
- Decide images to provide radiologist looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas. Determine whether scope of exam should be extended based on findings.
- Provide sonogram with verbal and/or written summary of findings to physician for use in medical diagnosis.
- Prepare patient for exam by explaining procedures transferring them to ultrasound table applying gel and positioning properly.
- Observe and care for patients throughout examinations to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the ultrasound department ensuring timely patient care.
- Provide quality reviews to monitor and improve the quality of ultrasound images.
- Assist in the hiring onboarding and training of new staff.
- Assist leader with shift schedules for ultrasound technologists ensuring adequate staffing.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members on their clinical skills professionalism and patient interactions.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasound program Required
- Minimum 3 years Sonographer experience Required
- Strong knowledge of ultrasound technology imaging equipment and protocols.
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) (United States of America) Required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support & First Aid - American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
- Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services Upon Hire Required
- Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services Upon Hire Required
Call rotation may be required per department need.
FM Campus requires ARRT certification and IDPH licensure
HCHC Campus requires ARRT certification and IDPH licensure
Rotate to other GRH campuses to assist with training US staff and evaluation of image quality.
