Job Summary

The History Department at Hamilton College a highly-selective four-year undergraduate liberal arts college located in central New York state invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in US history spanning any period from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries with a specialization in Hispanic/Latino/Latine histories in the US west or borderlands and interest in related questions such as gender race sexuality state formation migration indigeneity law labor and/or citizenship. The new hire will be expected to teach both lower- and upper-division history courses in their area of specialization in addition to participating in a survey of US history and build curricular bridges to other departments whether in the social sciences humanities arts or natural sciences. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations while contributing to a vibrant learning community that values academic freedom creativity and intellectual curiosity. Candidates with a Ph.D. in history or a closely related field are preferred but candidates with ABD will be considered. The teaching load for this position is four courses in the first year and five courses thereafter. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $92100 to $97900. The position requires institutional service including academic advising of undergraduate students after the first year.
