Patty Baker Humane Society Naples is accepting applications for a full-time Veterinary Assistant. We seek a positive service-oriented individual who will support the work of the veterinarians and technicians in the provision of superior veterinary care to our shelter residents and community companion animals.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (with a one hour lunch break).
Responsibilities
- Provide a healthy safe clean and pleasant environment and facilities for the animals and personnel
- Treat all animals humanely properly and with compassion at all times regardless of the situation or circumstance
- Restrain and lift dogs cats and other domestic animals
- Feed water walk weigh and medicate animals as directed
- Maintain adequate supplies in our veterinary clinic
- Clean and sanitize enclosures including of animals with communicable illnesses
- Sanitize package and autoclave surgical instruments
- Maintain the veterinary clinic and supplies including laundry and general custodial duties
- Collect voided urine or fecal samples as directed
- Assist technicians and veterinarians with exams treatments and procedures as needed
- Work courteously and cooperatively with other staff members
Qualifications
- Minimum of six months work as a veterinary assistant and/or completion of a veterinary assistant program with clinical hours
- Works well with others and loves to help people
- Detail-oriented positive patient compassionate
- Able to go with the flow and be flexible when plans change suddenly
- Safety-conscious
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs independently
- Comfortable with computer use and willing & able to learn new software
- Willingness to work with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
Pay and Benefits
- $17.00/hr. This is an entry-level position.
