Job Title:Motor Vehicle Regulations Technician I - Remote
Division: Mandatory Insurance
Union:SEIU
Location: 115 S. LaSalle St. Chicago IL Cook County
Salary:Range from $3705 to $5225 monthlyBenefits: Employees must be able to commute within 1 hour radius from the location mentioned above in short-term notice as required or requested.Note: 4 to 6 weeks training for all new employees is ON-SITE and in-person attendance is required.Overview:Performs extensive and detailed paraprofessional work in the review of files records and documents regarding vehicle-related transactions and drivers license issuance and privileges. Analyzes and responds to complex telephone inquiries from the general public licensed dealers financial institutions on behalf of Motor Vehicle and Drivers facilities on the main phone lines to determine type of inquiry and level of service required. Performs extensive research and verification of vehicle title and/or registration information by using various computer system programs. Collects information from customers and forwards requests for mailing of necessary forms (title applications placard information request drivers abstract tax forms) to callers giving guidance as to the proper completion and submission.Duties and Responsibilities:- Receives analyzes and responds to complex telephone inquiries from the general public licensed dealers financial institutions and Drivers Facilities for the main phone lines to determine type of inquiry and level of service required as it relates to vehicle title and/or registration related transactions Drivers license inquires and issues; responds to inquiries requiring clarification of related chapters of the Illinois Vehicle Code Administrative Rules and office processing policies and procedures for resolution of questions problems complaints; independent judgment and decision-making are necessary when resolving non-routine inquires and/or situations; confidential access to customer information is necessary.
- Performs research and verification of vehicle title and/or registration information by use of various computer system programs providing caller with information pursuant to office policy to resolve programs or give direction; analyzes and reviews completed image applications on title related paperwork and applications for customers working to resolve any issue and error on behalf of customer.
- Researches and reviews customer computer files offering assistance and guidance in resolving Drivers license related stops and suspensions; provides customer with necessary information including ticket numbers courthouse locations and dates of issuance for resolution; refers customers to other applicable departments for error review and other necessary matters and resolutions.
- Collects necessary information to mails forms title applications placard request information request drivers abstract Illinois Department of Revenue tax forms etc. to caller giving guidance as to the proper completion and submission.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school AND one (1) year responsible clerical experience dealing with laws rules or regulations in a public or private organization. Knowledge Skills and Abilities:- Requires working knowledge of applicable portions of Chapters 3 6 7 and/or 11 of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
- Requires working knowledge of business English and composition.
- Requires working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Requires working knowledge of the drivers license examination procedures and Administrative Hearings Department procedures.
- Requires working knowledge of insurance principles and terminology.
- Requires ability to exercise independent judgment in making decisions in accordance with applicable laws and to apply proper procedures.
- Requires ability to analyze difficult cases and render decisions concerning the denial or reinstatement of driving or vehicle registration privileges.
- Requires ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Requires ability to deal tactfully with the public.
- Requires ability to maintain a satisfactory working relationship with other employees.
- Candidates must be able to be present within one hour from the following location (115 S. LaSalle St. Chicago IL. 60603) with short-notice.
