This position is funded by a grant and is anticipated to be available for two years. Continued employment beyond the grant period is subject to the availability of additional funding and organizational needs.
This position is located in the City Managers Office within the Homeless Solutions Division.
$48.25 Hourly
Up to 1000 Hours Per Fiscal Year
Under general direction provides support and administrative oversight of the development and implementation of homeless services coordinates with outside agencies and ensures that programs and resources across all departments are aligned with the Citys goals to address homelessness.Examples of Duties
Examples of duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Plans organizes coordinates and evaluates the activities of the City to address and end homelessness;
- Develops and implements new strategies in coordination with other agencies;
- Prepares and negotiates contracts for supportive services and housing solutions for homeless;
- Collaborates with other local businesses non-profits and community groups in the coordination and delivery of services to the homeless;
- Coordinates City policies and activities with local regional state and federal homeless programs;
- Prepares and administers grant applications;
- Participates in public outreach and education;
- Prepares and monitors annual budget for homeless programs;
- Manages the Citys annual point in time count;
- Works with Code Enforcement to monitor and address blight within the City;
- Prepares and presents oral and written reports to various departments commissions City Council and other community groups on homeless issues; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration public health liberal arts public relations social science sociology or a related field.
Experience:- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the development monitoring and evaluation of community programs including experience working the homeless.
Licenses and Certifications:- Possession of or ability to obtain upon appointment a valid California drivers license.
Supplemental Information:
Essential functions require the following physical abilities and work environment:- Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to travel to different sites and locations;
- Regularly required to talk or hear. Required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
