FlexSteel Extrusion Operator I

This is a FlexSteel position and is located in Baytown TX.

Starting Schedule:

2 weeks on day shift 2 weeks on night shift

Mon- Fri every other Saturday: 7am-7pm / 7pm-7am

After Training Schedule:

2 weeks on day shift 2 weeks on night shift

4 days on 4 days off - 7am-7pm / 7pm-7am

• The purpose of this position is to operate or support the operation of production equipment and perform processes related to manufacturing flexible pipe.
• Extrusion Operators participate in a structured on-the-job training program to develop basic skills through the completion of competency modules and hands-on training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Meets all established Company KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
• Reports directly to the Extrusion Supervisor and assists the Level III / Designee in set up and operation of the assigned production equipment/machine.
• Under the guidance of Level III / designee Extrusion Supervisor or Manufacturing Manager the Level II Operator operates assigned equipment/machinery for the purpose of producing production test or experimental pipe.
• Inspects work in progress as well as the overall finished product to ensure compliance with Company Quality standards.
• Maintains work center cleanliness including material storage areas in accordance with facility operating policies and Standard Operating Instructions.
• Completes required documentation records as required in accordance with procedures.
• Successfully complete 16-hour Ultrasonic Testing Training (UTT) Course.
• Complete Quality Module IV for Extrusion.
• Understand Manufacturing Design Specifications (MDS).
• Must be able to identify process variation and communicate to Level II Level III and Extrusion Supervisor any process changes.
• Complete 40 hours of Ultrasonic Testing D-meter experience.
• Successfully complete NDE Ultrasonic Testing Certification.
• Able to identify anomalies and/or non-conformances.
• Assists Lead Operator in analyzing and resolving line operations problems.
• When applicable loads material into machine for production runs including maintaining material traceability.
• Assists Level III Operator and Extrusion Supervisor for the purpose of coordinating activities associated with the work center.
• Assists in all work areas in accordance with the Standard Work Instructions Policies and Procedures as directed by the Extrusion Supervisor.
• Other Duties as assigned.

• Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Candidates must be able to read write speak and understand English.
• At least one (1) year of relevant experience in a forward-thinking manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanics metal forming and/or extrusion equipment and processes is preferred.
• Candidate must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Candidate must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Candidates must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
• Candidates must be able to solve practical problems and deal with situations where only limited standardization exists.

• Field Branch Shop & Plant Positions: This position operates in an industrial/field environment. The role requires working in and around manufacturing equipment heavy machinery and potentially hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job the employee:
• Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly
• Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift)
• Climb stairs and ladders
• Bend stoop kneel and reach
• Work in confined spaces when required
• Operate heavy equipment and power tools
• Perform repetitive movements.

• Field Branch Shop & Plant Positions: This position operates in an industrial/field environment. The role requires working in and around manufacturing equipment heavy machinery and potentially hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job the employee:
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions
  • Exposure to loud noise levels requiring hearing protection
  • Work in high places and confined spaces
  • Exposure to dust fumes and chemicals
  • Work around moving mechanical parts
  • Work in hot and cold temperatures
