Principal Investigator:
Division of Transplant Surgery Mayo Clinic
Introduction:
Dr. Michelle C. Nguyens laboratory at Mayo Clinic focuses on advancing the science of organ preservation and transplantation through innovation in organ perfusion technology biosensor development translational research and clinical outcomes analysis. The team is particularly interested in developing microfluidic and electrochemical biosensing platforms for real-time monitoring of organ viability during machine perfusion as well as conducting outcomes research to evaluate the impact of perfusion technologies and extended-criteria donor utilization on transplant success and patient survival.
A Research Fellowat Mayo Clinic is a temporary training position designed to provide advanced education and experience in scientific investigation. The fellow will work closely with Dr. Nguyen and her multidisciplinary research team to develop execute and analyze studies related to solid organ transplantation organ perfusion and biosensor-based monitoring.
Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct data collection data analysis and meta-analyses in the field of transplant and organ preservation.
Participate in organ perfusion experiments including sample collection and biomarker analysis.
Assist with animal model organ procurement and vascular cannulation for normothermic and hypothermic machine perfusion studies.
Prepare manuscripts abstracts and grant applications for publication and presentation.
Contribute to maintaining regulatory and ethical compliance for research protocols.

Qualifications
M.D. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in immunology physiology biomedical engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrated research potential as evidenced by prior publications presentations or relevant experience.
Experience with data analysis organ perfusion systems or translational models is preferred but not required.
Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 visa applicants.
