Position Summary:
The Calibration/Metrology Technician III performs advanced calibration testing and maintenance of electronic mechanical and optical measurement equipment to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards. This role requires strong technical judgment problem-solving ability and the capacity to mentor junior technicians while working under limited supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calibrate and maintain test and measurement instruments including electronic pneumatic mechanical and pressure-type devices.
- Set up and execute calibration sequences methods and procedures as per specifications blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Disassemble inspect clean and repair test equipment replacing defective parts when needed.
- Monitor verify and document quality results in accordance with statistical process controls and standard operating procedures.
- Provide technical support to production operations maintenance and testing teams.
- Perform troubleshooting and testing on components systems and equipment using schematics diagrams and verbal instructions.
- Collect analyze and compile technical data; perform calculations and prepare detailed calibration reports.
- Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance calibration efficiency and accuracy.
Autonomy & Impact:
- Works independently with limited supervision; provides guidance and training to lower-level technicians.
- Manages small-scale calibration projects from setup through completion including data interpretation and reporting.
- Exercises considerable technical judgment and ensures compliance with calibration standards and quality requirements.
Innovation and Problem-Solving:
- Handles complex calibration challenges requiring analytical and diagnostic skills.
- Develops practical solutions and process enhancements with supervisor review and approval.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Interacts primarily with internal departments to exchange technical information and ensure operational effectiveness.
- Provides documentation and feedback to engineering and quality teams for continual improvement.
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Offers on-the-job coaching and training for junior calibration and metrology staff.
- Promotes adherence to company quality systems and continuous learning practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant calibration or metrology experience.
- Vocational or technical education in Electronics Instrumentation or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of calibration standards test procedures and documentation protocols.
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints technical drawings and schematics.
- Solid mathematical and data analysis skills with attention to accuracy and compliance.
