Whos who in the tech space

This position reports to the Group IT: Infrastructure & Cyber Security Manager.

Your mission should you choose to accept it:

• Provide technical support services relating to Microsoft Linux Microsoft XenServer VMware & Server Hardware Platforms & Applications to customers and 3rd party vendors as required
• Perform installations configuration & maintenance of Microsoft Linux XenServer VMware & Server Hardware Platforms
• Perform installations configuration & maintenance of division owned platforms as well as supporting application function & services on Microsoft & Linux platforms
• Ensure that platform best practice and security standards are adhered to as guided by industry or management
• Ensure that Microsoft Linux XenServer VMware & Server Hardware platforms are adequately patched according to patching cadence schedule
• Ensure that all platforms and services managed by Group IT Systems are onboarded onto monitoring platforms and adequately monitored
• Ensure infrastructure (VMware vSAN XenServer Dell PowerStore or other SAN/vSAN technologies) storage requirements are met and recommended standards are adhered to
• Ensure that all production systems are adequately backed up with quarterly sample testing performed
• Document and keep current Standard Operating Procedures & Instructions for Group IT systems solutions and processes
• Research & recommend innovative approaches for administrative tasks (e.g. simplification automation etc.) for consideration
• Execute upon request tasks initiatives and projects as requested by management as informed by business requirement or strategic drivers and in accordance to timelines
• Provide after-hours standby support to the business on a rotational basis

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma or Advanced Certificate with a technical major (i.e. Engineering or Computer Science) and a minimum of 3 years in Systems Administration experience.
• In the event that a candidate does not have a Diploma or an Advanced Certificate with a technical major (i.e. Engineering or Computer Science) an equivalent experience requirement must be met which equates to a minimum of 4 years of Systems Administration experience.
• Industry Certifications (LPI RHCSA etc.) advantageous
• Minimum 3 years experience building configuring & supporting Linux Operating Systems based on Debian or Redhat distributions
• Minimum 3 years experience building configuring & supporting Hypervisor technologies such as VMware and or XenServer XCP
• Minimum 2 years experience building configuring & supporting Windows Server Operating Systems
• Minimum 2 years experience building configuring & supporting Server Hardware Platforms (Dell or HP or Other)
• Minimum 2 years experience building configuring & supporting Cloud Platforms (GCP or AWS or Azure) is advantageous
• Minimum 2 years experience working with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible Chef Terraform or CloudFormation is advantageous
• Minimum 2 years experience working with a scripting or programming language such as Bash or Python is advantageous
• Working understanding of technology and concepts of Clustering Load-Balancing Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
• Working understanding of technology and concepts of SAN or vSAN
• Working understanding of Open Source Applications such as Apache NGINX MySQL or MariaDB or PGSQL
• Working understanding of Monitoring platforms such as CheckMK or Zabbix or Nagios
• Working understanding of Backup solutions such as Veeam or NetBackup or Dataprotector
• Working understanding of Centre for Internet Security Standards and its application
