Description

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Community Affairs the Associate Director of Local Affairs shall support the administration of a robust advocacy program at the local government and community levels for jurisdictions in which Emory has a presence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Tracks all city and county activities including attending or viewing city/commission meetings and identifying and relaying agenda items of interest to or impact on Emory to appropriate leaders.
  • Supports government and community affairs offices at Emorys Oxford Johns Creek and Warner Robins departments with their respective outreach activities.
  • Serves as OGCAs lead liaison to government and community outreach activities within Emory University (e.g. Colleges Advancement & Alumni Engagement Campus Life etc.) and Emory Healthcare.
  • Tracks and reports Emory community engagement outreach activities and data including compilation from Emory OPEN.
  • Identifies and cultivates strong relationships with key stakeholders including elected and appointed officials organization leadership etc.
  • Coordinates stewardship opportunities (meetings tours events webinars etc.) between Emory leaders and key individuals to provide information about Emory develop partnership proposals and facilitate partnership compliance or reporting.
  • Assesses and advises support direct OGCAs efforts with key community organizations and activities through program participation placements or other recommended actions.
  • Clearly communicates with leadership on a consistent basis regarding local affairs matters.
  • Manages goals objectives outcome measurements and metrics marketing strategies and collaboration opportunities with other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Works closely with the Director of Community Programs and Director of Engagement to design and implement programs of interest to our community stakeholders.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelors degree and four years of experience in program/project administration or related field OR an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
  • Strong understanding of and relationships with local government and civic leaders is required.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
