Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer / Designer works directly with small teams to produce 3D models drawings and fabrication packages of custom equipment. Typical equipment includes containment systems (gloveboxes hot cells cleanrooms)material handling equipment small-scale process piping & equipment furnace systems metal working systems (mills lathes rolling machines) and pressure vessels. This position requires advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling drawing creation and fabrication package development.Responsibilities:- Perform detailed design and engineering activities including preparation of component subassembly and main assembly Autodesk Inventor models; creation of detailed fabrication drawing packages; evaluation and selection of purchased components; development of detailed Bills of Materials; and completion of equipment datasheets.
- Establish model structure and drawing tree architecture for distinct deliverables maintaining file naming conventions and design file organization within Inventor.
- Collaborate with project engineers to develop technical solutions that meet performance safety and fabrication requirements.
- Provide checking and review support for design packages and fabrication drawings.
- Ensure all design activities are conducted following regimented quality assurance and quality control procedures.
Required Experience:- High school diploma required; Associates or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Engineering Technology or related field preferred depending on experience.
- Must demonstrate expert proficiency with Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience with Autodesk Vault or similar PDM systems preferred.
- Familiarity with other 3D systems (Creo SolidWorks or CATIA) 2D software (AutoCAD preferred) and Autodesk Revit is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems including development of fabrication drawings equipment datasheets and design record documents.
- Experience in the DOE and DOD market segments a plus; hands-on experience with the types of equipment listed above strongly preferred.
- Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
- Must have the ability to acquire a security clearance.
