Job Summary

AECOM is looking for an Engineering Manager to act as the Design Lead with experience in overseeing a multi-disciplinary team that will be designing the secondary side of a fusion power plant.  The Engineering Manager is accountable to ensure that all related engineering activities are performed in accordance with approved policies standards programs and procedures consistent with the expectations of the Chief Nuclear Engineer and the requirements of the ACNS Nuclear Quality System Manual.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Support the Senior Engineering Manager by providing engineering deliverables including but not limited to designs analyses and other technical deliverables.  Accountabilities include:

      Supervising up to fifteen direct reports (engineers and technicians) engaged in delivering engineered products to the client.

      Ensuring staff are trained competent and qualified to perform their tasks.

      Preparing and providing training to staff.

      Investigating and resolving of technical issues during all phases of a project.

      Preparing reviewing verifying approving or certifying engineering deliverable as required including but not limited to:

      Technical Specifications

      Design Drawings and Bills of Material

      Commissioning Specifications

      Design Reports including Calculations and Analysis

      Having knowledge to oversee work in the following areas::

      Mechanical pressure boundary work being executed under including CSA N285 B51 B31 and any piping codes calculations or reports such as required by the client

      Electrical electrical work being executed to electrical codes in Canada/Ontario or any other jurisdiction in which design is performed

      Civil Building codes including CSA N287 N289 N291 and national or provincial building codes in which the design is performed.

      Leading and supporting continuous improvement initiatives


Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements: 

  • A 4-year degree in engineering from an accredited University and 8years of related experience .

  • Be a registered and practicing Professional Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications:

The skills and knowledge to execute this role are usually acquired through 8-15 years of experience in a design engineering environment.  The individual would possess good written and verbal skills and an ability to influence and interact with all management levels.  Specifically the individual would have:

      Demonstrated an ability to manage a technical group of up to 15 people.

      Demonstrated a good technical understanding of nuclear power plant operation.

      Demonstrated a good understanding of the regulatory environment and its requirements pertaining to nuclear power plant operation.

      Demonstrated a broad understanding of the practical application of engineering and the general application of engineering principles in electrical mechanical and civil disciplines.
