What You Will Be Doing:
Proactively build relationships within the local community that will provide referrals and leads within the wedding and social community.
Where applicable actively prospect and qualify new business within the wedding business and social community.
Act as lead hotel expert on weddings and social events
Consistently offering professional engaging and friendly service
Promoting all hotel catering services food and beverage and banquet facilities through direct client contact to maximize profits from food & beverage revenues meeting room rental and other revenue
Discusses negotiates and develops client events from start to finish including proposals menu development detailing and contracting balancing client and hotel needs.
Responsible for meeting and exceeding personal sales goals for food beverage and rental revenues (monthly quarterly and yearly).
Conducts tours of the hotel function space and guestrooms; entertains qualified potential clients.
Facilitates pre-planning meetings and tastings with clients and key hotel staff
Clearly communicates details of events to client and hotel departments in a professional thorough and timely manner i.e. conference resumes banquet event orders and internal correspondence.
Maintains ongoing relationships with external vendors and negotiates bookings for external resources (florals linens décor and entertainment) to maximize event potential.
Accurately forecasts individual booking revenues in S&C
Adhere to all Fairmont Opera Sales & Catering Standards and procedures including appropriate trainings
Responsible for the successful outcome of the event through excellent planning communicating negotiating and team work including all pertinent coordination with outside vendors.
Adjust function space in order to ensure maximum potential revenues.
Work with Sales and Marketing team to maximizing promotion through marketing and social channels.
Establishes viable payment methods with clients and assists follow up of delinquent events.
Participate in hotel communications meetings including business review BEO Resume and monthly department meetings
Qualifications :
Your Experience and Skills Include:
2 years related experience in social catering or similar management position at a first class hotel preferred.
Proven ability to plan and organize detailed events effectively
College degree or diploma in Hotel Administration preferred
Long hours sometimes may be required including weekends.
Strong culinary and beverage knowledge and interest.
Light work Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.
Able to work independently within a very busy environment while assertive professional and positive.
Understanding of computers and applications with a strong working knowledge of Property Manager Opera Sales and Catering MS Word and Excel.
Knowledge and experience of posting profession marketing material online preferred.
