About the Role
As a Revenue Accountant youll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition across contracts and projects. Youll collaborate cross-functionally analyze financial data and contribute to process improvements. This position offers high visibility and the opportunity to work closely with Gordians leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Review revenue contracts sales orders and renewals to determine appropriate accounting treatment
- Analyze revenue transactions and ensure accurate recognition in the accounting system
- Prepare monthly journal entries related to revenue deferred revenue and unbilled transactions
- Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts
- Lead and support month-end close activities related to revenue
- Manage complex accounts conducting research and collaborating with internal stakeholders
- Prepare and maintain revenue reports as assigned
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and recommend improvements
- Support automation initiatives to enhance efficiency
- Contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Research accounting standards and provide recommendations
- Assist with internal and external audits
Qualifications
Required:
- Associates degree in Accounting Finance or a related field; equivalent experience considered
- Experience in accounting with a strong understanding of revenue recognition and the order-to-cash cycle
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions such as pivot tables VLOOKUP etc.)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills across various levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Preferred:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- CPA certification or active CPA candidacy
- Experience reviewing and analyzing sales contracts
- Familiarity with large ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
- Experience with Salesforce
