Senior Histotechnologist

Lighthouse Lab Services is excited to represent a respected healthcare facility in Charlottesville VA seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory Histologist to join their dedicated team.

Position Summary

The Senior Laboratory Histologist will perform a full range of histology functions including accessioning embedding microtomy and slide preparation applying scientific knowledge and adhering to standard operating procedures. This individual will assist in maintaining laboratory policies and procedures operate and maintain instrumentation and manage inventory.

The Senior Histologist will also support the Laboratory Manager with daily operations workload coordination departmental goals regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction. This position plays a leadership role within the department often assuming charge responsibilities in the absence of the manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform histology duties including specimen processing embedding microtomy and staining.

• Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards across all laboratory activities.

• Maintain laboratory instruments supplies and technical documentation.

• Support and mentor other team members fostering collaboration and efficiency.

• Assist with compliance to CLIA CAP and other regulatory standards.

• Serve as acting lead when needed to prioritize workloads and troubleshoot issues.

Qualifications

• Education: Associates degree in a chemical physical or biological science (required); Bachelors degree preferred.

• Certification: ASCP certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) required.

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of histology experience required; immunohistochemistry (IHC) experience preferred.
