Description

Information Technology Interns at Caterpillar Seguin Plant perform the same challenging work assignments as our new full-time hires. We work with our teams to ensure that every intern gains the appropriate professional and personal growth necessary to be successful in a corporate environment. This position is a great way to gain hands-on experience by supporting IT operations at a world-leading manufacturing company. As a Spring intern you will work up to 20 hours a week. Summer 2026 interns will work 40 hours a week from May 18th 2026 to August 7 2026.

What You Will Do

Youll join a team with diverse project responsibilities and have valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar employees. You can focus on building professional abilities in roles including (but not limited to):

• Assist in the development testing and implementation of IT solutions.
• Support IT team with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
• Participate in the maintenance and upgrade of IT systems and infrastructure.
• Help in the creation of technical documentation and user guide.

What You Have Skills and Experiences

In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute your unique skills and experiences. Below are some of the most critical skills:

• Knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Java Python C or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with various operating systems like Windows Linux and macOS.
• Understanding of basic networking concepts such as TCP/IP DNS and network protocols.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure Google Cloud) and cloud services.
• Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously ability to quickly gain and effectively apply new skills & knowledge
• Success in collaborating with others of diverse cultures interpersonal styles and abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Participate in and build on our inclusive constructive and productive work environment

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled full-time at a 4-year accredited university/college in one of the following fields of study: Information Technology Computer Science Computer Engineering Management Information Systems Cybersecurity Data Analytics or any technical related degree at the time of application and throughout the program.
• Must have 15 completed semester hours before the start of the internship.
  If a transfer student must have 12 semester hours completed at a 4-year university.
• Minimum 3.0/4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (no rounding) at current institution.
• Must be able to relocate at indicated work location for the duration of the internship and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation.

Top Candidates will also have

• Proficiency in any of the computer software applications or programming languages or technologies
• Examples include: Firewall IP Subnet HTML AWS and Azure experience
• Previous internship in Information Technology
• Strong communication teamwork analytical and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem solving and customer service skills
• Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed
• Ability to work independently and manage time as well as being a collaborative team member Able to manage own duties including setting priorities
• Familiar with company policies and procedures

Additional Information:

You must live within 50 miles of the work location: Seguin TX and work on-site up to 20 hours a week.

Intern Hour Rate:

An interns hourly rate is based on the major/degree being pursued and the number of completed academic hours achieved before the start of the internship.
