Over Hall Community School is seeking a dedicated kind and compassionate learning support mentor to join our excellent team focusing on providing exceptional educational social and emotional support to our pupils including those who are vulnerable and have additional special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This position offers a unique opportunity for a caring and skilled individual to become a key member of our school community directly contributing to the growth and wellbeing of our pupils.
The role is 37 hours per week Monday to Friday based on a 8am - 4pm day 39 weeks per year including inset days.
As a learning support mentor you will pay a vital role in facilitating an inclusive and nurturing environment for our children. You will work closely with pupils including those with diverse educational needs to foster their academic social and emotional development. Your responsibilities will include creating and supporting individualised support plans collaborating with teachers and the Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to tailor learning experiences to ensure inclusion and offering one-to-one or small group assistance to ensure that each pupil can thrive personally as well as academically.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference for our children. While previous experience in an educational setting or working with SEND children is beneficial we believe that your enthusiasm empathy and willingness to learn are equally important. You should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills have the ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as using your own initiative and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development rooted in a good understanding and experience of the current challenges children and school face.
