About the role

As our Disability Services Coordinator for theDisability Gateway you will be the first point of contact for clients seeking support with information services and referrals. The Disability Gatewayis a national program that assists people with disability their families and carers to find and access services across Australia.

In this role you will connect with people who each have unique needs and circumstances. By listening with empathy and providing clear accurate guidance you will create an experience where clients feel heard respected and supported. You will also help individuals navigate complex systems such as the NDIS and My Aged Care and turn what might feel overwhelming into something more manageable.

This is afull-time position workingMonday to Fridaybetween8:00am and 8:00pm. While youll be part of the broader Support Centre your focus will be on delivering the Disability Gateway program and ensuring every client receives the right support at the right time.

Duties

  • Conduct intake and referral support while providing a calming and informative customer experience.
  • Perform thorough research within KPI duration to connect clients with validated information.
  • Identify risks and vulnerabilities and connect callers to appropriate services or provide relevant information.
  • Assist callers in navigating government funding systems (e.g. NDIS My Aged Care).

Skills & Experience

We want you to be successful in your new role! This means youll have experience in thecommunity servicessector and:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the sector and familiarity with Australian government funding bodies (e.g. NDIS My Aged Care child and family services) is beneficial.
  • Customer service experience particularly in phone-based roles or call centres is preferable.
  • High level of emotional regulation and agility along with compassion and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Technologically savvy with the ability to navigate multiple computer systems and multitask effectively in high-stress situations.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and a focus on the task at hand.
  • Inquisitive and eager to learn more about available services and programs.
  • Certificate III or IV or a Diploma in aged care community care disability services community services or related fields such as psychology counselling mental health or social work is highly advantageous.
